About the instructor
Nazish Zafar has spent 15 years conducting qualitative research. With a PhD in Sociology from Johns Hopkins University, Nazish draws upon a robust foundation for her in-depth interviewing skills. She has conducted research about orphans in Russia, juvenile offenders in Singapore, small business owners in Brazil, and other segments around the world. She’s not only a seasoned researcher, ethnographer, and interviewer, but also a talented storyteller, as exemplified by her decade-long venture, “Shopkeeper Stories,” a captivating series of photoessays chronicling the lives of small business owners. You can often find Nazish on the streets and markets with her camera, striking up conversations with strangers to learn more about their perspective of the world.
