107 Hawker Centres in Singapore

While I was doing my doctoral research in Sociology, I was spending a lot of time exploring hawker centres and markets in Singapore.

Every day, I would look for new sites. Where are all these 107 hawker centres located? This led me to wonder: which markets are clustered close together? Which markets are more isolated? What else is interesting in the neighbourhood near the market?

I thought my life would be a lot easier if I had a map.

Since I couldn’t find such such a map, I created it using data from the National Environment Agency (NEA). This way, I would be able to plan my journey to each market.

I depended quite a lot on this map to discover new markets, and found it useful! So I have decided to share it with all of you in case you want to explore the 107 hawker centres in this city!

(By the way, you can toggle the map to see the locations of train stations. This helped me plan some of my destinations at a glance!)

Do you have any comments? Should I add anything else to the map? (You can add this layer to your Google Maps for easy reference.)

PS. Do you have a favourite hawker centre? Tell us which one, and what you love about it!
